Mission Of Simi Covenant Church
--"Loving God, Following Jesus, Serving Others"--
Those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17
MISSION VALUESPassion for the person of Jesus Christ as the catalyst for life. Following Jesus Christ changes lives for the better. The Lord cares about people who don't know him. We are committed to helping people come into a relationship with Jesus, and becoming fully devoted followers who in turn help others come to the Lord.
Worship and prayer are the fuel that drives the church and our lives. We humbly come to the Lord in prayer recognizing that prayer brings change. We are committed to creating inspiring worship celebrations that are contemporary and relevant utilizing both ancient and present media and music.
Scripture-based living is essential for holiness and wholeness. The Bible is our only authority for faith, doctrine and conduct. We study the Bible so that by the work of the Holy Spirit our lives might be transformed. Theologically we are staunchly evangelical, believing in the necessity of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and the authority of the Bible. We hold firmly to core beliefs but are free to express differing views in non-essentials.
Authentic caring relationships are a key characteristic of the church as the body of Christ. Because we are family, we are committed to caring for each other, accepting, forgiving and loving each other, and holding each other accountable through open relationships.
Equipping people to serve in ministry to build up the church. Every believer is gifted for ministry and service. The pastoral staff is called to train and equip the congregation so that they may use their gifts to impact the lives of others and make more disciples.
Being difference-makers in our world is the challenge of the church. Christians are not to be isolated from the world, but rather involved in the world sharing the Good News of Jesus with others in all of the venues of our lives. The church as the people of God must not merely be inviters, rather the church must be engaged in invading our world with the Good News.
Unity in Christ as the atmosphere of the church Jesus calls us to be one to live and serve together with His love. Committed to the Lord and to each other, we boldly step into God's future mission for our church.
